Store Updates

I have made several decisions in the past week that affect the store, so here goes:

1) chiyrogami work is on hold.  I need to make some sales to afford accessories I want/need.

2) Custom Orders will still open back up beginning of march.  Just sayin.

3) Kanzashi is coming back.  In droves.

4) I have decided to try to get into the local anime convention this year, AnimeFest.org. 

5) Lots of new listings. I need money to cover new supplies, and the table fees.

6) Made to Order is gone.  Forever.  Custom Order only.

Twitter. Cause I'm a sucker.

Yeah so I read a couple of Etsy articles, and I decided to join the Twitter.  I never thought of it as a reasonable marketing tool, but with the downfall of facebook support, I need a supplementary cheap (aka free) advertizing source.

More Momiji details

The shading is coming along, but not perfectly.  I am still having difficulty matching the Japanese stitch pattern around the center of the leaf.  I am going to keep going though I have definitely made some mistakes.

I am starting kanzashi again.  I KNOW.  I'm an addict.  I really wanted to get into my local anime festival. I think I could sell a lot of pieces and get more publicity.  I have begun a piece, but no photos yet.  Soon, but not yet.  :)

Momiji In the Wind

Its coming along nicely.

The wind design is backstitched in cream. The top leaf will be done in multiple shades of red.  And the bottom leaf will be in varied shades of green/orange.

The white is only guidlines that iron out.  That's why I am sticking to the DMC cottons for now.  That and I just picked up a huge box of colors to work with.  YAY!

Back Again

Lab results came back BENIGN!!! 

So here is the plan. 

Custom orders will open again in the beginning of March.
New products will include Chiyrogami Bookmarks with origami designs.
Hopefully get good enough at stitching Japanese Embroidery to start doing my designs in silk.

I finished making my design for the momiji on brown.  Should be able to start stitching that soon.
I have learned quite a bit about design transfers.  But the white friction marker I found seems to be the best.  You can rub it gently or just iron it out, no fading, no smuding, to rubbing off on accident.  It takes a while to apply, and didnt like the fact that I had traced out my design with a silver marking pencil first. So next time i will pre-draw with something like graphite and try to apply over a non greasy surface. 

Out Sick

Yeah, so umm..... I'm sick again. 
Every time I think I get a handle on myself something terrible pops up.
Had a double biopsy done on something they are fairly certain is cancer.
SOOO......I am taking a break for a while.  This is just too much to handle.
I'll be shipping out sales, but custom orders are not coming back this month like I planned.

In the meantime I am trying to focus on stitching, despite the fact that I am so tired. I started drawing a design of momiji in the wind, on a chocolate brown background of 100% cotton.  Still going to use dmc cotton thread, since I am still practicing. Will be a nice autumn colored piece with green, gold, and orange.
